12/26/2023 0 Comments Mac 10 9mm extended clipMake a little line or mark on the back of the mag where the catch hits it when it's position so you know where to dremel a line across the back of the mag.ĭremel or use a band saw to make a line across the back of the mag and it should be nearly perfect position the next time you take it out no matter which mag catch you have.īut the downside is if the wrong catch is in the gun, you'll have to custom fit every mag you ever get to the gun, and that may not be very desirable for you. Then take the back of the grip off so you can see where the catch should be hitting the back of the mag when it is inserted all the way to the bottom of the bolt that I explained above You don't really want the mag feedlips to have too much pressure on the bottom of the bolt because it may rub and cause premature wear or not let the bolt close, but you would want them close enough against the bolt that they'll strip a round. I pushed the unloaded mag in until it was butted up against the bottom of the bolt (when the mag first gets to the bottom of the bolt, the follower is against it, so push a little bit harder so the feedlips touch the bottom of the bolt). The way that I made (modified) the Suomi mags to work with my lage upper so I knew where to put the catch was this: *(Note that not all of this will pertain to the zytel mags, but it's easier for me to explain this way) I think I would get the same result if the mag catch was and 1/8 to 1/4 longer. However, that doesnt mean that something else is the problem and I've masked it with modifying the mag. Now, it still needs much more testing, but it appears that if I can get my mags to set the same way I've got this one it will work. ![]() I just went home and dremeled it catch where I had marked it, ran like a champ - both single and full. Good point - last night I inserted a mag a applied the appropriate pressure to get it to feed, I marked the mag - then built up the first catch with an epoxy mixture. 100 guaranteed to fit feed & function in your M-10/9mm. When I took a closer look at my old barrel, I noticed that the chamber wasn't perfectly in line with the bolt face and the rounds would get bound up trying to enter the chamber at an angle. The thing that was different was that I had installed a new barrel several months ago. Fast forward 10 or so months and I realized that I hadn't had any feed issues in a long time. Over time, the problem occured less and less, but it still happened once in a while. For the longest time I believed that it was a magazine issue and just left it at that. ![]() ![]() Fairly often, I would get a round that wouldn't chamber all the way or would have a light strike. If all of your magazines are giving you issues, that points towards the gun, not the mags.įor example, when I first got my gun, I was having issues with all of my magazine, zytell and metal. Not that you shouldn't get good quality mags, but make sure the gun is correct before you go trying different magazines. Why don't you just measure the distance from the bottom of the magwell to the top of the mag catch and then ask someone else to do the same?
